Youtube and Google+ Embedded Posts

If you embed Youtube videos on your web site you might want to take second look at the Google+ Embedded Post feature:

https://developers.google.com/+/web/embedded-post/

Instead of using a direct Youtube embed try creating a Google+ post that includes the video and your commentary.  Embed that post on your site by following the instructions linked above.

People can still play the video in the page, but now they can also +1, Follow, and Reply to it.  This engagement will make your conversation stand out in the new Youtube.com comments section.

CircleCount - I should have checked your posts before writing mine!  With all the great traffic on plus it's hard to keep up.

Note that this is not embedding the full comment stream into the page, this is embedding a single post.  People can reply to that specific post by clicking on the comment icon.

Alex Sørlie Glomsaas  --  this means that you won't get random youtube comments showing up on your page, and that it elevates your post above the others due to the engagement it receives on your site.

You are right, what you have described here is the official way of embedding a post (including youtube-video and comments to the post).

Maybe what I have combined (embedding the video + embedding the unofficial comment stream to the video) could be an interesting option for embedding a youtube video by setting an option like "Show suggested videos when the video finishes"

In the meaning of officially supported by YouTube.

But I think since embedding comments wasn't an option before the integration of Google+ comments this won't get an option with the new comments, too.

Hi widget lovers.  You may have noticed a new look for the +1 and +Share buttons that are consistent with the Follow and Badge widgets.  We hope you like them.

You'll also notice that they scale up beautifully.  All of our buttons are now using SVG to render the iconography, and the Roboto font for text. There's even some SMIL animations hiding in there too.  All of this is perfect for your new high dpi laptop, tablet or phone. ‡

Please let us know if they're working for you and if you have any suggestions. Thanks for using Google+ widgets!

I prefer the old ones. But it would be awesome if we could customize the button as we want. That would be major advantage over every other Social Network.

Hafeed Elbekkaoui I'll see if we can offer a button without the sharing dialog.  Can you give me an idea of the specific use cases where you think this would be better (feel free to send privately if you want..)

It would be awesome if we could use custom image, the less cool, but still cool would be color customization of the button itself :)

The size, roundness etc.

Note that we do offer local customizations for the Google+ Signin button, so there is a precedent.

The vertical align of the numbers next to the +1 button in the bubble looks a little off, i.e. it doesn't look like it's exactly middle. Is this intended?

Yes, exactly, the horizontal bubble. It appears pushed down a little - if that makes sense - on Chrome and also on Safari.

[Edit / addition] For illustrative purposes: http://goo.gl/j00Hrx (just as a contrast, the Facebook Like button's vertical align seems to be exactly middle).

Munchery delivers.  Had a nice meal from them yesterday and noticed that they're also here on Google+.

Even if you can't get them in your area you can admire their fine food photography.  This attention to detail pervades the rest of the experience, including thoughtful packaging, high quality ingredients, and artful  presentation.  Highly recommended.

Wow, lots of questions! We'd rather "show" than "tell" so here you go: the mono earbud, and the Glass that Explorers will be getting when they swap later this year.

Edit: More questions! The earbud plugs into Glass, so you can choose whether to use it.

Earlier this week, the number of +1s on my G+ page suddenly and inexplicably dropped from around 5,000 to approx. 800. I complained to Google 2 days ago but so far those haven't been reinstated, and it seems Google doesn't know where they went.

Did the NSA steal those, too?
